Eashaan Katiyar--Block 4

About Me

My name is Eashaan Katiyar—mann, what a surprise. I was born in Burnsville, Minnesota, but my parents (and I) hated the cold weather so I spent my first few years in India. I did a year of Preschool and my first year of Kindergarten in India, and then came back to America to do my second year of Kindergarten (or what is the first and only year in the American system) but somehow managed to change schools three times. This shaky beginning, compounded with a shallow English understanding—I still have trouble with idioms and diction to this day—did not bode well as I entered grade school, but was something I worked hard on improving, and continue to work on to this day. However, I am definitely not someone who just writes for pleasure, although I did try that briefly in Middle School. When I do write, I do so with a sophisticated and objective voice—or at least try to—and keep the person I am out of it.

In terms of hobbies, I love browsing reddit, reading—I was the middle -schooler strapped to a book half my size—, biking, and building things—such as the website you see here (although I must confess that Bootstrap is doing all the heavy lifting). I’ve always been a STEM guy, having competed in Science Fairs since the 4th grade, and I intend to major in Electrical Engineering at whichever college accepts me.

I am a Senior this year. People told me that I shouldn’t give in to Senioritis, but I’m proud to say that I continue to procrastinate at the same dangerous levels as I did in Freshman year, and it sadly won’t be changing anytime soon. Over my four years, however, my likes and dislikes have changed quite a bit. Things I like: Small government, a strict interpretation of the constitution, and tasty food. Things I dislike: large government, a loose interpretation of the constitution, and South Indian food. Oh, and I hate my Freshman year essays.

TL;DR: I’m an Asian American who was born in America, lived in India for a while, and returned to America. I’m a decent writer, but I don’t usually write for fun. I like biking, reddit, and STEM.
